  • I need to cut up my credit card…

Athletes World PurchasesDon’t you just hate it when the bank raises your credit card limit and you’re like, “that’s cool… but it’s not like I’m actually going to spend that much”, but you end up shopping like crazy with it anyway? Yeah, well that’s the predicament I’m in, but at least I’m trying to pay off a good amount of the balance monthly.

My Achilles Heel is sales… esp. 50% off the lowest price sales, like the one the majority of Athletes World locations in Canada are having. I was at the Eaton Centre location last month and got some really good deals. This week I heard that the Athletes World store in Yorkdale mall was having a similar sale. I was worried that I wouldn’t have much of a selection since the sale started earlier this week, but I did manage to pick up some great bargains.

I got a nice Adidas hoddie, a tube top, a pair of black Nike Shox EL’s, New Balance 550’s, Antidote leather casual sneakers, and a pair of black Baby Phat high tops for my sister. The grand total? Only $150 including tax! Damn, I’m glad I got off work early today and headed to the mall! :D

You’d think that since I’ve just came back from a week’s vacation I’d be more cautious with money… but sometimes you just gotta jump on these sales (who knows when they’ll happen again!)

On a side note: yes, I’m back from my week-long Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Valor. I had sooo much fun, and I urge anyone who hasn’t been on a cruise before to save some money and go. It’s soooo worth it. I carried my journal along to jot down all my ‘happenings’, so when I finally decide to unpack completely I’ll back post them here on my blog (this weekend for sure!) :D

  • Gone Cruisin’!

In about 8 hours I’ll be on a plane headed for Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  About an hour after that I’ll be shuttled to Miami, then prepping for my Eastern Caribbean cruise on Sunday.  I’m soooo excited!  My first ever cruise and first real vacation in a long time.  Of course I haven’t finished putting the finishing touches on my luggage as yet, but for the most part I’m packed.  I just need to clean up my apartment and make sure my friend knows where my cat food is to feed my feline while I’m away.

I doubt I’ll get much sleep tonight, since I have to wake up at 5am in order to get ready in time to drive down to Buffalo (only 1.5 hours away), because I’ll be catching my flight to Florida from there.  I saved about $200 off my airline ticket by opting to fly from Buffalo vs. Pearson International Airport in Toronto.  Plus my friend who’s driving us down there can put in a full day of cross-border shopping.  That’s always a plus!

I’ll be keeping a daily journal of my cruise, so I’ll be sure to post them when I return a week from now (back-posted for readability of course).  Back in a week! :D

  • Check out this floormat-stealing raccoon.

I’ve always been a bit wary of raccoons.  Probably because of their size, their garbage-picking ways, and the fact that a bunch of times I heard one fighting with a stray cat in the tree outside my bedroom window when I was younger and it always kept me up.  With they’re sneaky masked eyes, sometimes it’s hard to not find them kinda cute.  Like in this youtube video where one tries to steal a floormat from inside someone’s house:

  • Be careful washing knives…

It’s been a while since my last post… I’ve been busy! What have I been up to for the past couple of weeks? Well after having my 80s birthday party, just been working, playing basketball and continuing my muay Thai kickboxing (I’m at the intermediate level now, by the way!).

The weekend was alright aside from the fact that I got sick, and didn’t wake up feeling any better this morning, so I had to call in sick to work. I guess there was a good thing about not going to work today: The delivery guy came by with the stuff I ordered from Victoria’s Secret last week (that was fast!). I placed the order on Wednesday night, it was shipped on Friday, and I got it delivered today (Monday).  I usually hate getting a delivery while I’m at work (esp. if I’m looking forward to it), because it gets rerouted to the postal centre the following day and I don’t like lugging home with packages. Before your mind gets in the gutter, I didn’t order any sexy lingerie… I got some nice swim wear for my upcoming cruise (less than 3 weeks away!!!). One that I ordered is still on back order, so hopefully I’ll get it before my flight departs. Here is the other one I purchased in the zebra print… it’s so nice! Plus my order came with a free, cute beach bag! :)

On another note, I was washing my dishes in my kitchen a short while ago and I accidentally sliced open my thumb while I was cleaning a knife (yes, it hurt and there was a lot of blood). Seems to be okay now seeing as how I can type with both hands properly, but I’m going to be a lot more careful in the future as far as sharp objects are concerned.

I’ll try to get a review post up on Turbo Jam/Hip Hop Abs this week since I know a lot of people have been asking about it. As for now, I think I’m gonna make myself some tea and try to be rid of this cough, stuffy/runny nose and throbbing thumb.

  • Someone find me the Fountain of Youth…

Birthday cupcakeSo today’s my birthday. I almost forgot it was today. I feel freakin’ old.

Okay, so 27 isn’t that old, but it’s still a year closer to the 30 milestone and there’s still plenty to do before I take that leap to settle down (you know… travel, maybe go back to school, etc…). I just came back from stuffing my face with buffet at Tucker’s Marketplace (free meal on your birthday!), and this afternoon I was a guest speaker at my former college (Humber), talking to a class about my current job in the multimedia industry. That was really fun, and I hope I helped some of them with some insight on the industry and their decision-making process after their studies are done (Thanks, James!).

Shana Elmsford from Jem and the HologramsNo partying tonight though… I’ll save that for Saturday as I’m planning a 80s theme party to celebrate my old age. Should be cool… picked up karaoke for my Wii just for the occasion. Maybe I should bake a cake and ice it like a Rubik’s cube? Still don’t know what I’m going to wear though. I was thinking the usual leg-warmers, and off-the-shoulder sweat top with tights, but I wanted to be a bit more original. Perhaps Shana Elmsford, the drummer/bass player from Jem and the Holograms? :D

At least I got the day off work today to extend my 3-day Easter weekend. Band to the grind stone tomorrow (will post those dog sled photos then!)
