I’m going on a cruise!

Carnival Valor - courtesy of carnival.comThat’s right… after almost 8 years of not having a “real” vacation, I’m actually going to leave the country (bargain shopping in Buffalo and Pennsylvania doesn’t count :P ). I booked a 7-day Caribbean cruise with a friend of mine today and in just 2 short months we’ll be flying down to Miami and setting sail to the Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. After much research we booked with Carnival Cruiselines. I haven’t been on a cruise before so I figured that the most economical choice would be sufficient for now. After I get hooked on cruising I’ll splurge! I’m so excited… I’m in dire need of a vacation and hope that this one will be worth it.

If anyone has any cruising tips just let me know… ;)

    Namaste.

    Peace and blessings…

My wife and I were married on the Carnival Triumph; if you do not have a balcony… you need to upgrade to a balcony immediately. Trust me, if you don’t you will “wear the ship out” before the 7 days are over. When you have a balcony, you will be able to enjoy your stateroom, along with the 24 hour room service (food & beverages …they’ll slide a menu under your door every morning around 2:30am) and the spectacular view from your private balcony. A balcony is worth the extra $100-$200 upgrade. My wife and I will not cruise any other way. A site that I would recommend that has the best deals for future reference would be:

My wife and I purchased a 7 day cruise (with balcony) for only $700 total (for the both of us). Also, when you get onboard… be sure to purchase a “drink card”… this will allow you to have unlimited juice such as freshly-squeezed apple, orange, pineapple, and coconut juice. The drink card costs about $30 per person; however, all fountain drinks are free. We just prefer natural juice.

Oh one more thing, don’t purchase any excursions from the ship… get these once you get to your port-of-call. You will save yourself anywhere from 35%-50% compared to the ship prices for the excursions. Peace and blessings be unto you…

    Fair Winds and following seas…

Thanks for the tips Isaiah! I don’t have a balcony stateroom, but have heard nothing but good things about one. I would’ve loved to get one this trip, but price-wise it wasn’t in the cards since I’m travelling with only one other person. I figured that since it’s both of our first times going on a cruise, there would be no expectations if we went with the Inside Guarantee Stateroom. Who knows… we could get upgraded to a better room. :D Thanks for the cruise.com link… very helpful. You got an awesome price (we’re paying approx. $600 for a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise, I couldn’t find any less expensive ones around that time.) I’m looking forward to the 24h room service… lol I’ll be sure to purchase shore excursions at port-of-calls in order to save some money for sure. Thanks again! :)

And Lyndsey, I’ll be sure to take lots of photos!
