I need to cut up my credit card…

Athletes World PurchasesDon’t you just hate it when the bank raises your credit card limit and you’re like, “that’s cool… but it’s not like I’m actually going to spend that much”, but you end up shopping like crazy with it anyway? Yeah, well that’s the predicament I’m in, but at least I’m trying to pay off a good amount of the balance monthly.

My Achilles Heel is sales… esp. 50% off the lowest price sales, like the one the majority of Athletes World locations in Canada are having. I was at the Eaton Centre location last month and got some really good deals. This week I heard that the Athletes World store in Yorkdale mall was having a similar sale. I was worried that I wouldn’t have much of a selection since the sale started earlier this week, but I did manage to pick up some great bargains.

I got a nice Adidas hoddie, a tube top, a pair of black Nike Shox EL’s, New Balance 550’s, Antidote leather casual sneakers, and a pair of black Baby Phat high tops for my sister. The grand total? Only $150 including tax! Damn, I’m glad I got off work early today and headed to the mall! :D

You’d think that since I’ve just came back from a week’s vacation I’d be more cautious with money… but sometimes you just gotta jump on these sales (who knows when they’ll happen again!)

On a side note: yes, I’m back from my week-long Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Valor. I had sooo much fun, and I urge anyone who hasn’t been on a cruise before to save some money and go. It’s soooo worth it. I carried my journal along to jot down all my ‘happenings’, so when I finally decide to unpack completely I’ll back post them here on my blog (this weekend for sure!) :D

What’s Open and Closed This August Holiday Weekend

If you’re reading this post and not living in Canada then you’re probably thinking, “what holiday?” Civic Holiday, or Simcoe Day if you’re in T.O., (the name varies from province to province) occurs the first Monday in August for us Canadians, except in Quebec, Yukon, and Newfoundland & Labrador (sorry :( ). It doesn’t fall under the government’s Retail Business Holidays Act since it’s not a statutory holiday, therefore stores aren’t required to close their doors for the day. That’s a good thing since (at least for me) you have the day off work, and get to sleep in and watch daytime television.

Most malls, grocery stores and L.C.B.O./beer stores are open.

If you’re waiting for that important letter, you’re out of luck because there’s no mail delivery on Monday.

Banks, government offices and libraries will also be closed.

Most transit will be running on their Sunday/Holiday schedule.

If you’re like me and love to shop, here’s a short list of malls and stores in the Toronto area that will be open:

Sadly enough, I won’t be reaching Orfus Road this holiday weekend.  I’ve spent myself into a stupor… so now I’m going to (try to) focus on saving!  But that doesn’t mean you have to.  Check out my Guide To Shopping On Orfus Road if you haven’t already. ;)
